September 24, 2012 was the day when ULCI opened its first Chinese training class.
At present, ULCI has Chinese course in seven levels: Children Chinese Class I, Children Class II, Childrens Class III; Elementary Chinese Class, Intermediate Chinese Class, Advanced Chinese Class and Higher Advanced Chinese Class for adults.
The courses include Chinese language and Chinese culture.
The Elementary Class mainly contains daily vocabulary, phrases, sentence patterns, and communicative language, with diversified and practical topics, focusing on student’s spoken language skills.
The Intermediate Class more focuses on student’s capacity of character writing, expanding vocabulary and scope of knowledge, as well as student’s writing skills.
The Advanced Class and Higher Advanced Class encourage students to express their selves in pure Chinese, emphasizing a balanced development in character writing, spoken and written language.
In the Culture Class, Chinese culture topics, such as history, cities, ethnic groups, traditional music, traditional costumes, tea culture, calligraphy, paper-cutting and movies will be introduced to and experienced by students according to their level of knowledge.
We offer:
· Chinese language Class from age of 7;
· Chinese language Class for persons with various or none level of knowledge in Chinese;
· Lessons are held in working day’s evening from 6pm to 8.30pm in UL Academic Library in Rūpniecības iela 10, Riga, on 4th floor (Classes schedule and place could be change by starting new study year);
· Is given Certificate of Completion by ULCI (successfully passed final semester’s exam, 75% lesson attendance) (UL students can get 4 credit points for this course)
· One time a month is organized “Chinese salon”, which is possibility for students to practise their Chinese with native speakers of this language, get new contacts and friends;
· All students have chance to show their selves with prepared performance in ULCI organized events (Mid- ATumn Fetsival Gala, Spring Festival Gala, etc.);
· Can participate in “Chinese Bridge” competition (with selection in Latvia);
· Chance to get scholarship from 1 year up to 4 years from Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in China;
· Summer camp (to two weeks)
